Question for GT/GT Sport owners

Has anyone successfully programmed their GT/GT Sport to chirp on lock and unlock?
I turned on the options using VAGCOM last night but it didn't work.
Is this because the GT does come with an alarm, hence doesn' have the necessary hardware to perform the chirp?

Our GTs don't come with an alarm, just an immobiliser.
