  • Brake pad warning light came on!! how long will they last?

Well yesterday while driving along the brake pad warning light came on, and it says to change them immediately!! I'm due in for a service in about 1000km would it make sense just to wait till then to do it, or should i change them now? Will they last for a while after the warning light comes on? I'm driving my dads car in the mean time just in case. What do you guys reacon?
    Cheers

get some pads from GSLrallysport (member on here)
I beleive the EBC pads are the ones to go for.

I wouldn't wait the 1000km, brakes are more important than waiting for a scheduled service.

Have a look. I would expect you have some wear left, but visual test is the best.

I'm certain it would be ok for 1,000km, as brake wear sensors are conservative, as it should be.

Regardless, I'd buy the pads from GSL, i.e. TRW Lucas pads and get it installed at your brake/suspension workshop, together with a brake fluid change.. you'll save a few bit of cash compared to what VW will charge.

The TRW Lucas would be OEM, or very close to OEM.
