Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Tyre problems.

Did anybody noticed vibration at central console or at driver or passanger seat while drivin over 70km/h?

Our new Golf V comfortline has the vibration that I can feel while driving more than 70km/h.The car has done only 3,000km and I noticed it since new.
Last week I tryed the wheels from Vw Cady fitted to Golf and there was no vibration.
The trip to Bob Jane T mart confirmed that the tyres are oval not a circle.
Tyres in ? are Good Year 195/65/15.

Not yet. I'm still waiting for Good Year rep to contact me. I'll give them call tomorrow.

Are you sure the tyres are oval and not just out of balance. I know the wheels on the my GTI when i got it were and i had vibrations from day one until i had them balanced. Then car was smooth as silk. I also had a wheel weight fall of a wheel once and the vibration was huge and felt like the car would rattle apart at speeds above 70.

R32 is here and sounds awesome, loving the throttle blips on the down changes.

From factory the balancing was 10g out on each side of the wheel. That didn't make much difference at all. So the second trip to Bob Jane was with the Golf tyres at the back of my van and I ask them to spin the tyres for me by hand only first, while watching them from the side and they were oval - definitly deffective tyres.
Also while driving straight there is vibration which is much more noticable when the road is turning slightly and the load is transffered to the particular side - right or left.
