We LOVE the rims featured in the VW Jetta brochure. We are not too fussed on the standard Atlanta 16in alloys that come with the car.
I had a look on the VW website and there's one the same/similar to it called Namib 16in alloys.
Is this the same wheels as the ones in the brochure??

Might be an idea to check with your vw dealer.
I have placed my order for the jetta and did not like the rims either.
The test car had the same rims as on page 6 and 12 of the jetta broucher.
I said to the dealer I did not like them and he said they were the older rims
and the new ones are like the ones on page 1,4 or 10. I will definitely be
    checking before delivery.

      Thanks for the reply Neil.

Based on your information, I queried my local dealer as such:

"I have heard that the mags on page one of the jetta brochure are now standard. Could you please confirm this?"

      to which he replied....

      "hi Tim,
unfortunately the wheels you asked about are not standard on the Australian models at this stage but are on left hand drive overseas models.
I am still trying to find out if this will change in the future and I will let you know if I get any noticefication of the change to this
      many thanks

      ??????

If you can get your rims as standard, I'd be tempted to get my Jetta from your dealer! A couple of grand saved....

        Hi tim.
        Interesting the reply you got.
I will check with my dealer over the next few days.
I got the impression from my dealer I could have a few options on rims
which we were about to view and I said to him I liked the ones in the
brochure on page one and he said they were the new rims standard.
I pointed out to him I wanted them as they did not have the plastic centre
coverings over the wheel nuts.and did not like the other rims featured in the
brochure or on the dealers test car.
        Ill get back to you.
        Neil.

          Tim Hi.
Spoke with my dealer who has informed me that the wheels he said
are now standard on the new jetta (page 1) of brochure are infact
          overseas rims.
He said they maybe able to get the overseas rims at an extra cost
          to me.....How nice I thought.

Anyway I have questioned the new 08 spec which will be arriving in
approx 4-6 weeks as mentioned by my dealer. Wanted to know what
rims will be standard and other differences between the 07/08 spec.
He first indicated no difference until I mentioned a post in the
watercooled lounge section see sticky 2008 changes from angry shot.
The jetta has a few changes including a larger multi function display
which he is now looking into including if the 2008 spec has different rims.
It might be an idea to wait for a few more weeks to see the changes.
My dealer said that the first 2008MY golf and GTI's will arrive in 4-6
weeks and he expects there to be jetta's amongst them.

Maybe you could enquire about the arrivial of the 2008MY with your
dealer as he seems to be more correct than mine.
          Neil.

Just had an email response from VW Aust.
The MY08 model is in production this week and delivery of these will not
occur for approx 3 months not 4-6 weeks as has been indicated to me
              by my dealer.
I can feel a long wait coming on.
              Neil.

Definitely towards the end of the year, you're guna see some pretty good deals rolling in.
Especially given how strong our aussie dollar against all our major trading partners.. There was a report in one of the national papers recently - which indicated this was likely to translate to lower prices/more equipment.

Good luck getting one you want.(MY07)
My dealer did say, if you can believe them. that there would be no price
difference between the two 07/08 spec. and,
They usually only bring in what they need and this keeps the price up on the
                    jetta.
You might get a good deal on a manual but not on the DSG.
If your looking for the TDI DSG in blue graphite, forget it.

                      update from VW Aust.

Had a response from VW with regards to the MY08 spec jetta.

"currently all MY07 spec without satnav get the half multi function display,
The MY08 will get large display with added function.with convenience menu
with includes customising locking functions, lighting duration ect"

So it might be worth waiting a little longer.
                      Thanks neil.

                          Tim hi.
Just got of the phone to VW customer support.
The rims featured in the jetta brochure on page two are overseas rims
They have discovered the rims do not meet Australian design rules.
So will have to look at alternative rims.
They searched there update for the MY08 spec and could not find any
mention if the MY08 will have different rims to the MY07.
Will just have to wait and see, They will contact me if there is a change.
                          Neil.

                              You will not believe this.

Had a phone call from my dealer.... Thats a surprise in itself.
He mentioned yes we can get the overseas wheels for you,
however they are going to cost about $1000.00 each.
I find this hard to believe when these are standard on overseas cars.
and what about my previous post about VW Aust. Saying they would
not comply to Aussie design rules.
                              So who do you believe????????

I think they are just trying to get me to choose from their own display.
