G'day all, I have a Mk5 Golf 2.0 TDI DSG and I noticed that when I drive off in the afternoon and put the aircon on, the revs fluctuate when I stop at the lights. The car at that point has not yet reached temperature and on a few occasions has stalled when attempting to pull off. If I turn the aircon off, the revs return to normal and the car drives smooth. If I put the aircon back on after the temperature gauge has move up however slight, then it's all good. Any ideas before I contact the stealers and have them try spin me as to avoid any warranty work. Thanks in advance.

possible your a/c compressor is starting to seize up and pull down on the revs.............vwtech...... -
UPDATE
I finally got my car checked out at the local dealership. On booking it in, the service guy reckon it was an idle valve and that they would have it sorted by the afternoon. When I collected the car I was told that it was not the idle valve and that the software needed an update.
To me, at that point, it sounded like a load of bull but to my surprise, the car has not had any aircon/idle issues. Turns out that it was just in need of a software update.Comment

Revs dropping during compressor kick in - followed by the car recognising it and kicking it back up is entirely normal. When the compressor turns off, you may even notice revs pick up very slightly before the car senses it and backs it back down again.
It should be barely noticeable though, and most certainly shouldn't result in a stall...
I don't know of any 4cyl cars that don't do this.... Not enough torque to handle the A/C kicking in..
But yeah shouldn't come close to stalling... Something sounds wrong there for sure.Comment
