Hate to sound ignorant, but I heard that golfs and jettas have a feature called launch control which allows you to rev the engine while stationary so you take off without spinning the wheels. Can someone tell me how to activate this and does it cause excessive wear?

I don't think it's anything special, I think it's just the ESP or the traction control that just controls wheel spin when you accelerate fast or on a slippery surface and I think it's also linked to the electronic differential lock

Launch Control is basically dropping the clutch in a car with DSG transmission. Not all DSG cars have Launch and mine doesn't, so I can't tell you exactly how it works. 1. Select "S" on the gearbox
2. Turn off ESP
3. Hold down brake and accelerator at the same time, the engine should rev to around 3000RPM and hold the revs (if the engine isn't holding around this rpm, launch control isn't engaged)
