I bought a set of 17" GTI wheels for my TDI for $500 + freight from Tempe Tyres in Sydney. They had been on a car, traveled delivery ks only.
Personally I believe that's a bargain. Tyres cost twice that !
how much would i expect to get brand new VW MK5 GTI wheels for (in $)? If they are unused and brand new??

If you were to buy OEM wheels from VW they would probably be $750 per wheel, give or take a couple of hundred bucks, most likely giving too and not taking.
Your best bet would be to keep your eyes peeled for a set selling from a private seller on eBay or something. Maybe see if you dealer knows of any coming up???
