  • Black rims baby!

Woot! Thanks to the guys at Depulu on the Gold Coast I've toughened up the look of my GTI!

What do we think ladies and gents?

Seeings it is Bathurst weekend why don't I throw in this one eh? (before I painted and debadged all of the front grille!)

It looks excellent from a rear quarter perspective with the red calipers and red tail lights peeking through the black rims!

Put on 4 new ContiSport3's too... see how they go!

An amazingly good quality job on the rims...

Not quite. As opposed to dark grey from brake dust rims you'll end up with brown rims now instead. Trust me I know. :p

Back on topic the wheels look the goods. You just need to get the side skirts, rear bumper and front skirt colour coded though to sort it out.

        Cheers,
        Trent

They needed the rims for 2 days, $140- each rim including reconditioning and paint. These guys are the best as they actually bake the rims as opposed to a cheap fill and paint job...

I'm thinking I might get the same guys to put on some high gloss black paint (2 pak) on the exhaust tips and bake 'em... then my car has no ghey 'bling' chrome bits on it... that's the last bit of chrome on the thing lol

A white rim around the wheel would improve things or some white wall tyres.

I am not a fan of the complete black out look, more swayed to charcoal or gun metal, but thats personal... it does give you GTI a more sinister appearance.

Just letting you know guy know that I just posted up some pics of my black gti with black stock rims + red lip in the gallery section.

I was going to go all black but think its a bit stark.

Let me know what you think.

You used to be cool man, with ambitions to buy a Mk5 R32. I oughta delete all your posts in our section right now!

OT: the car looks awesome, very mean. I'm on the Coast a lot these days, I'll keep an eye out for your car

Please don't colour code it - just add some VW centre caps (looks like yours were painted over).

IMO - The black textured lip, skirts and lower rear are subtle cues that define a GTI - especially on a Candy White model.
