my07->my08 was a big one. all 08's have a full height MFD, whcih allows stereo control from the wheel. (u can do volume only of 07)
engine/suspension wise nothing (that I know of) changed for the whole life of the MKV

2006 year models on have the BWA motor which is said to produce an additional 20 bhp over the motor in the 2005. All Mk5's are still factory rated at 147Kw but in the real world the BWA motor has more power.

I believe after 2005 GTI's lost the cooler in the armrest and a couple of minor changes in the interior but nothing major.

Also, ECU tunes varied somewhat but I'm not sure of the detail in relation to this.

thanks just wanted to make sure there weren't any major issues that were corrected as the life of the car went on looking at mostly 2006-2007 at this stage anyway. 2008's if the price is right.

MY08 is the model you get if you can afford it. You get the full height MFD and most MY08s also have an AUX input in the center console.

I think there are a few more minor changes but I can't remember them off the top of my head. There's a few threads on this topic if you do a quick search for "differences".

I think pre 07 they had different head restraints, ones that you could actually tilt forward and rest your head against.

Is it true about the bwa engines having more 'undocumented' power than the earlier motors?

I thought it was only the MY09's that had the aux input?

MY08+ is definitely the way to go though. Not only for the full height MFD but you also get the MP3 compatible CD player. They're only small changes, but make a massive difference (especially the increased control the MFD gives you).

Are you talking about the golfs only? cos this at the start year the MY10 Jettas have got an interior upgrade, looks pretty much like the mk6 golf. just my 2c
