My concerns: 1, refurbished 2, it's coming out of Lithuania 3, is this the latest version of maps?

Has anyone or does anyone know of purchases made from there before? seems cheap for $950 delivered........

1. Who cares, at most it's had a component swapped out or the security eeprom reprogrammed.

2. Better than coming out of China, who cares where it's passing through. The RNS 510's are manufactured in the Czech Republic.

3. Yes.

You have ebay/paypal buyer protection, the seller has 99.5% positive feedback and it's a fraction of the price from Volkswagen.

If you prefer I'll buy it from him and sell it to you for $2000. This way you won't think it's too cheap and it'll be coming from Australia so you won't worry about that either!

I did this, but mine claimed it came from the UK, but i think it came from that Lithuania area but all works and couldn't be happier.
Had a friend that got one and turned out to be faulty, but he lodged a dispute with paypal and got his money back. So there is protection.

Did you have to get it fitted by the dealer given you need to connect it to the steering wheel control, mfd ect?

Nope I fitted it myself, but i had to downgrade the firmware for steering wheel controls to work

Short Version:
My RNS came from that seller and it worked fine.

Long Version:
I bought my RNS from a seller on ebay who in turn bough it from used_parts_specialist. I paid around $200 mark up for the privilege (unaware at the time). The seller I bought from shipped the item and after I received it, claimed back to used_parts_specialist that the item was never received and made a paypal claim.

Somehow used_parts_specialist (actual name is Tadas) got my details, called me from Lithuania and we had a chat and I confirmed that I received the item and that the other seller was lying, both on phone and in email. Tadas was a great guy to deal with (not that I actually bought anything off him) and I would highly recommend you buy direct from him.
