  • Keys?

    Hey Guys,

Just purchased a Golf MKV TDI only came with 1 Key which was a bit disappointing

I know they ask an arm and a leg from VW spare parts but what about getting one of these on ebay:

VW_REMOTE_KEY_NEW_BEETLE_CABRIO_GOLF_PLUS_POLO_BOR A_FOB - eBay Keyless Entry Remote, Safety, Security, Car, Truck Parts, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 02-Oct-10 17:39:27 AEST)

Are they the real deal? Who can do the cutting and programing?

    Cheers,
    Dan

I bought one of these keys for my Polo GTi, have had it cut and it works fine in the locks. Also had it coded to lock/unlock the doors which works fine, just need to get it to VW for coding to start the car, but it looks like that will work as well. All at a fraction of the dealer cost.

      Thanks for the reply mate

Where did you get it cut and coded for door opening? What did it cost?

What do you expect it to cost for the dealer to code the starting?

Key was cut at a locksmith in Bankstown, was very good and cost something like $20. Just call around and find one that can cut the double sided blade keys.

Coding was done by a local guy that does keys, etc, but couldn't get it to start the car due to the security in them (they need to connect to the internet back to Germany I believe). VW should be charging around $88 to code the key this will inc locks and ignition.
