  • New Tyres - Gold Coast

    Hey Guys.

My tyres have done 57000km now and need to be swapped out.

I called around and have 3 different dealers telling me the CSC2 are being discontinued. The alternative is the CSC3 tyres.

    Should I go for them?

If so, where could I get a good rate.

    Cheers

    Broady.

It depends what you are after in a tyre.
I haven't heard many good reviews of the Conti's so i would be going with one of the following 3.

Cheap and reasonable performance = kumho ku31's.
High performance but a bit pricey = michelin pilot sport ps3's or Goodyear eagle f1's.

I've read mostly good reviews of the Toyo Teo Plus range (and the odd bad one).
Here are some comments about them... Toyo TEO Plus Tyres Reviews Australia www.toyo.com.au

Am thinking of going with them when the time comes around.

About the only thing that's not so good (for me anyway) is their availability -- Tyrepower seems to be their primary retailer so they're not as widely available as Goodyears, Bridgestones, Dunlops etc. But that would matter to me if I get an irreparable damage to one tyre, which had nearly happened once before -- thankfully, my NCT5s are plentiful.

But seeing as you're after CSC2/3s... are you definitely after something with more grip in mind? The tradeoff will be mileage, of course.
The Toyos are more of a touring tyre after all. Or maybe they are indeed enough for your needs?

Keep us posted! And thoroughly enjoy your research process too!

Thanks for the feedback guys. Always appreciate the knowledge on this forum.

I got the tyres yesterday/ I went with the ContiSport Contact 3 tyres and it's been a fantastic transformation on the ride.

Firstly. I didn't realise how much road noise was being generated from the CSC2 tyres until now. The car rides much quieter on the motorway now. I even had to adjust the GALA on the radio to compensate. The road resistance has also improved and I can feel the car rolling much further than before.

And as for handling, the Golf has always been good through the bends and I tried to find the max point on the CSC3 last night but chickened out before I could find out. The steering wheel feels lighter than ever before too.

I'm not sure how much of this is down to the change in tyre or the fact that they are new but the difference between yesterday and today is like night and day.

I can't speak for the other brands mentioned but I'm sure they are just as good if not better but I would recommend the CSC3's on the GTI any day.

Thanks again for your input guys.

          Keep Rolling

            Cool

Remember too that the difference between new tyres and old tyres alone will likely account for much of that improvement.

            cheers and enjoy!

              +1..

Tyre performance decreases & noise increases with age.

How many KMs on your old CSCs Broady?

                      Hey Ian.

I got them at F1 Wheel and Tyre for $290 fitted, balanced and alignment afterwards so I'd say that's a good deal.

Most of the quotes I got for the CSC3 were between $310 and $390 per tyre! A mate of mine told me got his wife's 22" replaced there for $285 less than Bob Jane's so I rang em up and they gave me that price.

Hope you get them. I'm loving mine.

Just replaced the standard issue Dunlop Sport Maxx with Michelin Pilot PS2 (225/40/R1 on the R32. Have clocked up about 2000km on them so far and the difference is unbelievable. Substantially quieter, better bump absorption, grip in the wet and dry is amazing - quite a transformation from a simple tyre change.

                        Cost was $462 per tyre.
