how to remove driver's left footrest?

hi all

was wondering whether anyone knew how to remove the driver's left footrest (DSG)? I need to get to the evaporator drain pipe and the footrest is blocking access...

There seems to be a plastic screw in the side, and one more in the plastic piece running behind the pedals. The plastic screw just turns and turns without coming out....

The plastic screw is one of those trim-clip thingies. It looks like a screw with a wider surround around it. Sometimes you need to lever the screw up out of the wider washer bit to get the threads to bite and undo.

thanks for that tip. Might try and lever it with a flat screwdriver while turning it.... Hope after all that, the evap drain is there!
