  • Conti ContactSport 2 - Opinions please

I'm thinking of buying a set of the CCS2s for the wife's Alfa to replace the CCS1s, which have not worn as well as hoped.

I know the CCS2s are standard fitment on the GTI and am wondering what sort of mileage people are getting from them, assuming all 4 wheels are regularly rotated and aligned to ensure maximum mileage?

    Any other relevant comments?

    Many thanks

I got about 50k out of mine and was very happy with them....SC3's are out now though.

Not sure what they are like but will be getting a set for the MkV shortly.

11,500kms on our GTI's CSC2s. They're okay, pretty good I guess, but for the money you could buy something better, or for less you could buy something their equal I reckon. For example, they don't appear to be any better compared to the relatively moderately priced Bridgestone Potenza GIIIs I have on the MINI at the moment.

Only on some, not all. Some have Bridgestones. Some have Dunlops.

I have bridgestone RE040 in my GTI as standard fitment. Last night in the rain i turned off the ESP and tried a couple of hard launches - the tyres are awsome in the wet. The cornering is excellent too. I would have them again any day.

I've heard reports that the conti's have a harder side wall and therefore have a firmer ride than most other tyres, so they may not be the best thing on the missus car.

Red may be the devils colour, but this car is pure heaven

I have the 205.55r16 on our TDI and think that these are a reasonable tyre. I would not head out and buy a set, but am confident that these will be safe and grippy for the winter!

I have found the sidewalls on 3 of my contis susceptble to getting damaged really easily, ie, potholes and things. At $410 ea it was a very costly 16000kms.
I now have 18s with contis and the tyres are wearing well.
I fitted Yokohamas, C drives to my old 17in. BBS's and they felt a lot better than the original contis. They were a lot cheaper too!
              Cheers, Andrew

have 2.0TDi Golf Sportline that came standard with 17" conti sportcontact2's and reckon they are a great tyre in terms of grip and overall performance. Have done 45,000 kms and have not been kind to them and there is plenty of life in them yet. Absolutely no problems at all c/w 'performance' pirelli's and bridgestones / firestones I have had on previous cars that are heavy and have oomph (none as much oomph as the 2.0TDi though) and have had early and severe wear on the fronts with those brands with less grip!! The contis are expensive though
