  • Factory sunroof won't close

Went for a nice drive in the afternoon sun today, opened the sunroof, happy daze!!
Then when I parked, I went to close it, and it got almost the whole way there and then shot back to fully open!!!

I can get it to close as far as the last notch before fully closed, but if I then try to close it, WHAM, off it goes to fully open....

I checked the guides both well greased...

    Any ideas???

try running thru the whole unlock and lock including windows up and down, sunroof open close by holding the button down on your key... sometimes works

First reset the sunroof, when the knob is in the closed position press the edge with the marking and it should press a button to reset the roof.

If that doesn't work try the next two

Assist the closing with your hand, this will reduce the load on the motor as it may thing there is an obstruction due to an increased load on the motor towards the end caused by lack of lubrication (old grease).

And try closing with the engine on, you could have a battery on the way out and as the voltage drops the amps required to close rise and it could be tripping on this as well.

If these fail use the manual sunroof closer, this is detailed in the manual.

          Maverick, you are a legend!!

          The reset fixed it!!
I forgot to mention before that I cleared a piece of plastic off the track, so maybe it has some kind of memory until you do a reset...

          Cheers
