The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • a question about lighting when parked

    hi all

yesterday switched off my car after a short drive and it started beeping at me like I'd left the lights on or something. No warning displays on screen.

However when I got out of the car and locked it, realised that the kerbside parking light and rear light were on, and it was bright daylight.

I double checked the lights switch and it was on "O".

This hasn't happened any other time. I've seen some Euro cars with parking lights, but they're always on the far-side (not the kerbside)

Any ideas what would have brought this on?

    cheers

        Thanks guys!

i'll try that and see if I can make the beeping happen with the indicator on.

but I'm still puzzled about the parking light and taillight being on, on one side... reckon that could be related?

        cheers

Its a safety feature allowing you to leave your park lights on a selected side of the vehicle whilst its parked. To activate the feature you leave the indicator on in the direction of the side you want lit up. The car will beep to make sure you realise that you're doing this on purpose.

              it's in your owners manual.

right blinker & ignition off = rh parkers on

left blinker & ignition off = lh parkers on

There are many other wonderous features that are highlighted in the owners manual.

                brilliant! many thanks guys

I thought I'd read the manual back to front (twice), but guess parking lighting wasn't a great thrilling read!

** incidentally, has anyone ever had a thick (4mm) vertical line appear for a few second in the MFD after switching off the engine?
