Hey all,

anyone know where I can buy one from, other than VW dealers?. It is starting to peel its black covering, as it did on the power windows buttons which I got replaced under warranty.
Should I still try with the dealers even though I am outside warranty, as it seems to have been a common problem on the earlier golf's.

If you have a full service history with the dealer and the car is only just out of warranty you might be able to get it replaced under goodwill. Best to call the dealership first and plead your case.

As Rob said try the dealer to see if you can get it replaced under warranty, the part itself is around $600 so if not you might want to experiment with some spray paint or buy a carbon fiber overlay.

Vw are going to replace the item as a goodwill gesture, no charge. I am 8 months out of warranty, but John at Burwin Ferntree Gully delivered the good news today.

how about one of those carbon fibre look DSG surround you can buy over the internet? that probably will give a longer lasting finish and probably relatively cheap to buy too...
