  • My08 R32

Apparently there is a reasonable chance I am getting the MY08 version of the R32. Excited because that means I get the highline display

If I hate the wheels in the flesh, I will try swapping them for the 07 version.

Dealer is just confirming for me.

Hey Bunny, whats the go with the later model? How different, and is there a photo somewhere? ps Don't you just WANT IT now? Is the ache really painful?

Hey Mario, WTF.... I can't see the exhaust in that photo, except maybe its hanging down in the middle. Is that it? Come on...... must be more than that to get the rabbit more excited than 2 wins in a row!

I think Mario is yanking your chain

Here are the changes from Angry_Shots thread in the VW lounge:

          Golf GTI and R32
-For MY08 both Golf GTI and R32 models have been upgraded to the large format multi-function display ‘plus’.

Previously only offered with satellite navigation, the larger display offers increased functionality including audio and convenience menus - image right.

-The Golf R32 ‘Zolder’ 18” alloy wheel has been replaced by the ‘Omanyt’ 18” alloy wheel design – images below.

-Walnut wood decorative dashboard and door trim inserts (5MG) are no longer offered as an option for R32.

"large format multi-function display" now that's got to be worth a stiffy! Hey, I'm just jealous (not of your stiffy!) but that you will soon be basking in the smell of new leather and driving your dream machine! I want some of that sensation.
Seems like I now have to work on 'her' too, as her friends told her how far they can go on a tank in their new Jetta diesel. Apparently, THEY were going to buy a GTi but decided on economy and love their choice. Damn them. Still, I am the spender and we'll get what I sway her into loving! (if she doesn't love it, how can she regularly wash/polish it properly?).
Bad train crash today in Vic. My thoughts go out to all those involved.

The reason everyone gets their back up re the highline is that you can't use your steering wheel controls to change tracks/radio station etc for your stereo, which is bloody amazing these days for a $60K car.

As for the oiler, well each to there own. Am excellent motor in it's own right but not over an R32 IMO. Plus tell her about how messy it can be to try and use a high flow pump at a petrol station

That bowser complaint has been the one of the main defences petrol-lovers had, now with performance and price on par, its the ONLY negative they can find. It's not really an issue these days, IMO. But don't worry, the bookies have me 6/4 on for the R32. Gti is drifting out to 3/1, 2litre diesel Sport is steady at 4/1 together with Megane 225 Cup, latest GT is 10/1,PoloGTi 25/1, WRX 50/1, Caddy 1000/1.

Certainly a good modern day oilers are pretty awesome. Apparently the BMW 535 is the dogs bollocks over in Euro. Our oilers seem to be more focused on good economy and towing in the medium/large sector rather than the performance varients you see overseas.

If you are thinking Rex at 50s, the new one will be at 50000. Bloody ugly.

I don't think I will be going to inspect a Rex.
(read that again if you didn't smile) they have been ugly for years.
I won't be buying a Jap car again. I had a Mazda and although it performed faultlessly (and moderately) it was simply a vehicle. I am in Euro-mode now.
Have a local dealer with a demo blue 4-door...but my mind keeps flashing a black 3-dr in my garage??

if the car has been made then just ask for the updated contract from the dealer - it should have the VIN and model details on it once they have built the car

my r32 build date was 1 April 07 - so it will be MY07

July makes sense for MY08 build cars (start of H2)

My dealer is from what I can gather, is a really nice lady. She is a bit scatter brained and no I have not got that out of her yet.....

why do I feel like I should be pushing getting the number harder, saying this aloud?
