  • Golf gti - ran over a trucks bumper on the highway - need a new sump

So i was driving on the highway at 110km/h and metal bumper falls of of a truck, long story short i need a new Sump for a MK5 golf GTI, wanted to know if any one has a new or used one for sale? or of they know a good place in Sydney? perhaps a wrecker?

Does anyone know if GTI's have a different sump to a normal golf? My mechanic seems to think it does, but i don't know.

    Ouch.

The sump might be the same as a 2L FSI motor (BVY engine code). These were fitted to Passats, Golfs, and Jettas.

      Did you get their details.

Hope the damage was only the sump.

Call a VW dealership parts department, give them your VIN, they'll give you the exact part number that you require.
        Nothing to see here...

Firstly did you get the insurance details of the truck if you did you can make a claim against his insurance, even if you only got his rego number you can ask your insurer to charge your damage against him. and you wont lose your no claim bonus .

unfortunately by the time i pulled over and called the police about it, (which was well down the road since i was on the highway) the bumper had been picked up so i don't know who it was or what the rego number was, so im stuck with the bill.

If you have a comprehensive insurance, wouldn't it be covered anyway if more than the excess value?

Otherwise try this thread, someone just got his car written off maybe you can ask to buy the parts you need: http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f15/...tml#post549350

depending on the damage you can have it removed and welded up. done it a heap of times for golfs and transporters ect

I doubt it as the drain for the turbo goes into the oil pan on the BWA engine.

Who picked up the Bumper if it was the RTA they might have it at their depot and if your lucky it might have the number plate attached , so give them a ring you never know .
