Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Dealer rant....

So I have put a deposit down on a R32 which can only be described as in new condition, I was due to pick up the car last Thursday but…

I requested that the owner get the RWC through a VW dealer as they should "know" the car.

Last Thursday the dealer (not the owners regular but the first with availability for RWC) picks a small oil leak - something to do with transmission case and prop shaft. Anyway has to be fixed under warranty so it gets booked back in for Tuesday.

On Tuesday they brake a special tool trying to disassemble and the job carries over to today. Well today they get the car apart and change a gasket but it doesn’t fix the problem, they now believe it to be a simple O ring!! They stay back (so kind of them) to finish the job but when the owner has gone to drive home the front end feels terrible and making a knocking sound, he returns to the dealer to find they have all gone home.

Now I am pi$#ed, firstly because I can’t pick up the car but also because I am concerned about the dealers workmanship and whether they have stuffed the front end on a tight as a drum (20,000 km) car.

Humans make human errors mate. Be patient, and let them sort it out. At least you're not paying for it.
