    Hey guys and girls,

Having recently stumbled across your community, just a quick message to say g'day and introduce myself.

Got my MKV TR GTI back in Sept '05. I was one of the lucky ones that managed to snag a fully optioned vehicle in a week when the waiting list was out to nearly 18 months. A preordered and dealer prepped car was waiting for it's new owner who couldn't come up with the finance when we rocked up...

Unfortunately, the vehicle's up to 57,000kms already due to a huge daily commute. I'm glad to say that it's always a fun and exciting drive everyday, even now.

Here are a couple of pics.

Oh, very good of you to notice...

It wasn't for my car, was for a customer. Just a coincidence... hehehe

The only mods I've fitted are NGK plugs and bluefin upgrade.

So just a general question then -as "gmc" and "anarchycamp" are over the 50,000+ km mark .. have you replaced the tyres yet .. ?
If so, did you go back for Continental ? or try a different set..

The factory Continentals were shot at around 30,000kms. I fitted a set of Yokohama Advan Neova AD07 tyres. Awesome compared to the Contisport II, but the tyre noise is terrible...

I'm up for a new set soon, and will probably go for the Bridgestone RE050A or RE01R if I could be bothered throwing in a set with one of my shipments.

Yokohama's are the work of the devil. I've only ever had one set, they've scarred me for life. Never again!

Have had a couple of blowouts (dodgy roads) but replaced all 4 at about 50,000kms with Continental SC2's.

I had to stick a couple of Dunlops on the back at one stage because i was in the middle of nowhere and the small town dealer didnt have continentals, totally horrible tyres...way way too noisy.

                          SC2 or 3 is the go...for me..

                            I prefer Bridgestone myself.
Last set I had were G grids on my VS Commie and got 110000km before replacement with Pirelli.

gmc - wow , i was going to say, 30,000 km .. You must've been really enjoying the car's performance

anarchycamp - Your mileage sounds more reasonable. .. i figured 50,000km is fair enough..

My personal experience would be to lean towards the eagle gsd3 tyres. Fantastic all round performance, and of course in the wet was fab.
Had them on my previous car in 215/45/17 size and with over 30,000 km on them, still plenty of thread left. But I didn't indulge in too many standing start shenanigans.
