You have the same power/throttle response and shift speed in each mode. The big factor which alters the shift speed is throttle input... if your foot is mashed to the floor the shift speeds are at their quickest.

          hi adzy

the gearbox gets very jumpy at low speed (eg when parking or reversing). Car bucks forward...quite worrying

hopefully the dealer will be able to fix it. They've already 'experienced' the issue on my car so that's a start!

This morning I tried manually shifting in D mode. Noticed an interesting thing that when you come to a stop (eg at lights) it goes back to 'auto' mode.

Haven't really heard/felt the 'throttle blip' on downshifts that all the reviews talk about.

Is that only at very high rpm?

          cheers

throttle blip is only when downgearing in "S" or Manual mode.

This will happen regardless of which mode you're in. If the car comes to a stop you will be automatically put in first gear.

That sucks about your box.... hope they look after you and sort it all out, pretty rare to hear of DSG issues bro.

Just an update on my DSG

They replaced the mechatronics unit under warranty.
Does anyone know if this should be an improved design compared to the original mechatronics? or will I face the same problem in 2 years?

Anyway... does seem to have cured the jerky shift problem at low speeds!

Now I'm enjoying the car a bit more. I wish the D mode was just a little more aggressive, but not quite as much as the S mode

                  cheers
