          Pure Gold!

.... And so much for the simplicity of diesels

There's just so much that can (and eventually will) go wrong! Thank God for:
          1. A 3 year warranty (but what about after that? An extended warranty?)
          2. My old Mk1 GLD in the shed
Can you imagine the cost of replacing some of these parts????

Thanks jets and maris. You've done well. Now to the printer! Phaeton... find part 1 and fix your scanner. Might as well have some more scary stuff

Top article, thanks for making it available.
Interestingly enough, if the cruise control is engaged and you change gears say from 5th to 6th, there is a ( slight ) surge in the rpm.
According to the information ( if I have interpreted it correctly ) this should not happen ?

Have now travelled 5,300 ks in the 1st month of ownership - what a car !
              cheers

Seems to be good enough for us too. I am SO far from fully understanding diesel, I am not really fussed, seems to go alright.

I've only just started using cruise regularly (12750km) and yes, I experience the surge but in other gears too. I find that as I set the speed there is a surge to a speed slightly above where I want it to be. My wife had a Mazda 929 and it did exactly the same thing. When I had the TDI's ECU reprogrammed to solve the battery flattening problem I asked the techie about it and he said it wasn't normal but couldn't find why it happened.

Cruise is good, that's for sure. Certainly was useful on a trip to Sydney, particularly being able to accelerate and then back off to the set speed.

I'll be interested to see the first part of the article posted.

                    cheers

There is a book by BOSCH:

To me Vag-com is very tool and does OBD2 as well. I've bought it in 2005 and since it had more than couple upgrades.
