Hi, just last friday my gti started to make a horrible screech noise. the symptons are:
car must be warm
happens at roughly 2000rpm
generally happens when i change from 3rd to 4th, either when my foot is letting out the clutch or gear is engaged.
the screech sounds like something needs lubrication.
ive taken my car to both the vw specialist and west leederville autos, both of which specialise in vw, and have minimal suggestions on what the noise is. The problem is that the noise never occurs at idle, and only happens sometimes, not all the time whilst driving. the mechanics have mentioned that the gearbox oil may need changing or someting to do with the clutch and ther bearings in the gearbox (not sure what they mean).
my last resort is to take it to the vw dealer and see if they have heard of this problem before, otherwise im lost. any suggestions of what it could be??
