  • MkV Rear Bumper Assy and MKVI Rear Bumper Assy...

    G'day......
I was once told that there was no such thing as a 'wrong' question..... Well I think I am about to prove that theory incorrect.....

Now, I own a MKV GTI and probably the only thing that I would say I'm not excited about is the grey bottom of the rear bumper. I have seen a couple that have been sprayed the body colour and it just doesn't do it for me... That meant a complete replacement was another possible train of thought.... So, in my wild fantasies I wondered whether the rear bumper and diffuser of a normal MKVI Golf with twin tailpipes in the same space as the MKV GTI would be able to be bolted on? I have absolutely no idea whether this is even remotely feasible, I mean the rear lights are totally different after all..... But I like to dream..... Is this possibly the wrongest question ever posted????? Does anybody have any idea if this is worth pursuing??? Yes, crazy is a term I am quite familiar with,,,,,

According to VW's blurb when the new model was announced, the only unchanged body panel between MkV and MkVI was the roof, so the odds aren't good.

Besides, it seems an expensive exercise — if it upsets you all that much, try reversing it into the garage. That way you needn't look at the back.

Definitely possible if you have mony but it won't be a bolt on job that's for sure. Were you thinking of doing the rear bar, diffuser and exhaust cutout/tip or tail lights included? Maybe someone can Photoshop twin tail pipes on each side on the mkv but if you're thinking of keeping the stock mkvi tips I don't think it would suit it as much due to the size.

Have you thought about getting a osir rear valiance?
