does the Golf V's audio show MP3 titles?

haven't been able to try it out, and couldn't find anything when I searched.

Does the stock Golf V GTI's stereo unit show the MP3 track information?

If so, can it show multiple lines? (eg track name AND artist at the same time)?

No...not on the RCD500.

Maybe the RCD510 will, and (more than likely) the RNS510 will.

The brochure doesn't say whether it displays MP3 track information.

I'm guessing the RCD500 is the stock unit in the GTi? Is that the same in the GT Diesel I wonder?

You're probably right.....I was thinking of commercially produced CDs. MP3s may give track info etc.

It does. But, if you are burning a CD from a computer, you'll have to edit the properties of the MP3 file to make sure that the details are there (like artist name, track title, etc etc). If all the blanks are filled, it should show on the display. And if you hit the right button next to the track title (it'll have 3 dots e.g Justin Bieber - One of my gayest song title ... ) it'll scroll to the left displaying the whole track title.

The standard stereo from MY05-MY07 cars did not have MP3 compatibility from what I can remember. The MY08 onwards has MP3 compatibility and also the full height MFD. Just something to keep in mind as you haven't bought one yet I believe?

I have the RCD310 in my MY08 (2007) Jetta TDI and it shows song titles, artists, albums and track number when I burn CD's of iTunes.

As long as you get an MY08+ (that is MP3 compatible), you will be able to see this information on the RCD310 and RNS510 (as tested in my mum's Tiguan).

Ditto to Macca's reply for my '07 Jetta with an RCD310 player.

If you press the button to the left of the song title it will scroll & show the whole title.

Below this again on the left hand side you can toggle between Song title, Artist & Album name.

Each CD will hold about 13 albums depending obviously on the size of the album. Just make sure you format the files correctly & you won't have any problems.
