  • GT Sport Diesel - manual

I have a vibration in the clutch travel on my 2008 GT Sport Diesel. Bought the car a couple of months ago from a dealer with 25k on the clock. Have had the car serviced by Austral in Brisbane and checked by RACQ. RACQ reported small vibration - possibly with irregularity in fingers on pressure plate. Austral advised no issue. Have heard that the clutch is composite structure with a rubber disc and this can fail; hence should be fixed under warrenty. same advice from Volkspower in Melbourne.
Can anyone shed any light on this - I still have a month of dealer and 1 year of factory warrently.

    How bad is the vibration?

On mine there is a small wobble at the point where it begins to engage up till about 50% of the way down to the floor.

My mates GT TDI does that and just took it as a tolerance in the car.

    Cheers

No vibrations from mine, definatelly not normal. Maybe the thrust bearing?

The flywheel in the TDI's have a dual mass setup, and they have been prone to dying in earlier 1.9 TDI's. Google dual mass flywheel in you tube and there's some great animated explanation video's. I'd certainly have it checked out by the dealer, as it wouldn't be something that will "get better". There is no shudder at all in my rather abused 65k clutch.

I've got nearly 30k up on mine now and the clutch feels fine What about a sticky slave cylinder ? You wouldn't think the clutch would have issues with only 25k on the clock ! Unless the previous owner was a clutch rider Good thing you have warranty and low k's
