  • My Jetta FSI

Picked up my Blue graphite Jetta FSI yesterday. 2L 4 cylinder petrol with 15,000kms. Optioned with leather.

My main issues are a lack of ipod integration and a lack of bluetooth (also a lack of power but i'll have to put up with that). I understand there are a couple of ways of doing this. However i'm unsure of the best way. I know you can get ipod integration dealer fitted for about $400(?). I don't know what there is to do in terms of bluetooth so i was thinking of just getting a parrot bluetooth system. Ideally id like it to all be integrated rather than having a separate bluetooth unit. Is there some way i can get dealer fitted bluetooth? And what would be the best way of going about getting ipod integration?

    Thanks in advance guys.

Which radio/nav unit did you get, that affects your options for bluetooth and ipod.

You'd most likely have the RCD300. The stock standard head unit in the Jetta (that I'm quite fond of).

Both installations are simple. You're in Brisbane so that's a benefit... I got my Aux. input installed by Northfield Car sound at Macgregor for $300 I think, I definitely know it was no where near $400. In saying that, iPod integration could be a little more expensive but I'd advise to steer clear of the dealer unless if you want to pay a premium.

The Bluetooth system on a new car is about $1,000 from Volkswagen, but I know Harding Performance do install some genuine Bluetooth kits so it might be worth checking them out (they reinstalled the premium package for my mum's Tig). They might offer a more basic integration kit for the RCD300 that is completely invisible.

            Thanks for the info.
Yeah i think i do have the RCD300. The aux sounds good but the bluetooth is a bit expensive. Would you recommend the aux or would you say i should spend the extra and get the full integration? I'm thinking of getting the new garmin nuvi which has bluetooth, or should i try and get an RNS510 fitted to the Jetta. I cant seem to make these decisions for myself haha.

RNS510's can be had on ebay for 1150 but i don't know if they are a direct swap for the RCD300, i believe you may need a canbus upgrade that will add another $100 or so.

Then you will still have to fork out for MDI and blutooth.

Check out the My-gti website for upgrading to an RNS system.

Hmm do you know if anyone on here has swapped an RCD for an RNS? I've done searches on here but i haven't found anything.

                  RCD300 to RNS510

                  Hi Platzie,
I swapped my RCD300 for an RNS510 last month in my 06 Jetta. Straight swap. However, as mentioned here I did have to change the gateway due to the known battery drain issue on pre 08(??) cars with an older gateway.
I got the RNS510 off ebay for $1150...received it in a week but i suspect it was refurbished, but the facia was new looking. I got the gateway (version AD) off ebay also, a guy in Taiwan, had it installed by my workplace and battery drain problem eliminated.
The bluetooth modules sold thru my workplace(VW dealership) are rather pricey, but integrated. We sell 2 of them, with the cheapest being a Kufatec(around 1k). The option I have is the Parrot 3200LS, but it only mutes the radio and does have a small external module, so not integrated. Got that from ebay for about $200, plus about $60 for the ISO cable adaptor.
                  Hope some of the helps
                  Ashley
