  • If driver door controls not working

If driver door controls not working or your door is not registered as closed you might have this issue:

This is the harness going to the driver door through rubber boot.

Just let you All know I raised the issue with VW Australia a month ago as I believe it's a design/manufacturing fault and not wear and tear. This will affect owners of Golf TDI 2005 model. I don't know if any other models are affected, but I saw some reports in UK and US forums for 2006-07 GTI and Jettas. A week ago I send a reminder to VWA about this issue and got nothing so far. As I didn't get a responce from VWA within 30 days I believe I can contact all relevant automotive organisations including NRMA, ACCC-recalls etc. I suggest if anyone has issues with driver side controls not working out of warranty to pull out the boot between the driver door and a shassis and inspect the harness. It's easy with a screwdriver, just pull whole thing slightly up. It goes back into the original place without any problems.

I've seen this problem a couple of times in the field.

Because it's in such a cow of a spot, you've got to strip the outer skin off the door.
