GTI tail lights

Followed the other ½ home tonight in our new GTI (more like tried to keep up ), and noticed the tail lights and particularly the brake lights - they seem a little washed out, like the lenses are faded - more pinkish/red than red. Anyone else noticed that? I might consider the OEM LED tail lenses for it. Or, has anyone fitted LED tail/stop globes?
