Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Buying 20006 Jetta TDI. Advice Needed

I am considering purchasing a 2006 Jetta TDI DSG, that has 108,000k 's on the clock, and wanted to know is there any specific fault with this model I should be looking for, on a pre purchase inspection.
I have been quoted $1800 for the Timing belt / water pump service at Gold Coast VW Dealer
Would it be worthwhile taking a second hand car to the local vw dealer for a pre inspection purchase ???

Gold Coast VW is pretty good, I don't think they'd stuff you around. But for added piece of mind, it's always good to have the car inspected by a completely unrelated party (e.g. RACQ).

Good luck and let us know how you go, can never be enough TDI's on the road
