  • 1.4 TSI Problem with turbo charger valve?

We have a MY08 Gen V VW Golf TSI 1.4 and yesterday the yellow exhaust icon light came up on the dash. Checked the manual for the icon and it said exhaust fault and to take to the dealer immediately. Booked the car and dropped it off today. Service dept rang back and tells my wife its a faulty valve on the turbo charger and it will need to be replaced but unfortunately they have none in stock (fail ) and they will need to order one. I dont have and cant find a diagram of the turbo charger / supercharger set up to see what they are on about.

My question is has any other TSI 1.4 owner had this issue previously?

Could possibly be the N75 valve which is not an uncommon problem I believe (not necessarily with TSI's)? No major problems with mine (quite a few smaller ones though Lol!) and 41,000km so far.

Ours has only 21,000 kms to date, wife drives it mostly just around town. Turns out it was a faulty purge valve and they will fix under warranty once they order one and get it in. They said its fine to drive until then LOL

Mine's a launch model GT and I've had a number of valves/solenoids replaced already. Might have to look into the N75 valve.

Its a popular problem with my car,

            They have replaced mine twice.

Hint dont get them to put a stock N75 in.
