  • TOYO Tyres for Golf V

    Heh Guys

Anyone have anything good to say about TOYO tyres? I'm considering TEO Plus after Premium Contact 1 and Premium Contact 2; both good, but how about a change. I have heard that the TOYOs give a wonderful ride [I'm not a sports driver] and wear well. Any recommendations welcome.
    I have 205/60R 15s currently.

The Mazda crowd appear to rate the Toyo Proxes 4, google is your friend.

I bought a set of 4 Toyo Teo + for 1200 about 6 months ago now. Very happy with the tyres.. the ride is quiet and the tyres handle well.

Ran TEO + on my Outback, excellent milage and quietness and not bad grip, I like them.

Toyos are the last tyre I would ever recommend to anyone, especially Proxes.
The parts department at my old dealership (not VW) loved sellign them because they're a lot cheaper than any decent brand tyre. The big problem we had was that around the 8,000km mark the tyres got to the point where it sounded like you were being chased by a helicopter. The customers would be pissed about it and take it out on the service department and the parts department never heard anything bad so they kept selling them to customers.
It got to the point that whenever I asked for a quote on tyres to sell to a customer my request was written as:
Price and availability of 4 tyres (size) good, better, best NO TOYOS!!!!!!

            Avoid them like the plague.

On a side note, never cheap out on tyres. They're the only part of the car that touches the ground and are therefore the most important. Saving a couple of hundred dollars on a set of tyres might seem like a smart idea but you really can't put a value on your life (or that of your loved ones) and if something does happen that could have been avoided by buying better quality tyres you'll never forgive yourself.

TOYOs! Alright I hear, it's not unanimous.

Actually, I've come over to Dunlop Sport 01. Does sound better? Should be better.

              Thanks
