My GTI Pirelli has just about worn out its first set of tires and I’m looking for a replacement. The P-Zero’s are a great tire, but the price is astronomical at over $500ea. I’m thinking of putting on a set of Nitto’s NT05, has anyone put these on a GTI?

The only normal road tyre that's better than the Pirelli P Zero (not Nero, Rosso, or System, just "P Zero") is the newly released Continental SportContact 5P. Any other normal road tyre will be a step backwards in terms of performance, i.e. handling, grip, etc.

So I spent two minutes on Google to see what the NT05 is and what they look like. Well, they look absolutely awesome, love the manly tread pattern! Obviously, you should do some more research, but if the P Zero (USD 225 each at Tire Rack) or the CSC 5P are out of the question, then it can't hurt to give them a go.

I bought a new set of Good Year Asymmetrics, and delivery alone cost $299USD. Total cost with tyres and delivery was $999 AUD.. about half price compared to buying from here in Aus.

Get a price for 235 instead of 225. Usually they are a lot cheaper as a more common size here esp in 18's.

I bought a set of Pirelli P Zero Rosso's last week for my Tdi, paid about 312 per tyre, most expensive tyre that i have ever bought and i dare say that they are pretty damn good, not sure how much life i will get out of them lol.
Yes i know i could have bought the tyres cheaper from tirerack but I had some excess cash lying around at home plus im going away in less then a week so didn't really have the time anyway .
