  • Pirelli or r32?

in the market for one of the two. im not sure which way to go.
correct me if im wrong but the r32 feels like it lacks in power. whats the preferred gearbox for the r32 the manual feels alot slower. there is also no room for modding compared with the turbo'd cars
i want the pirelli because i think it will be more fun to drive after chipping and eat the r32 alive.
    looking at a r32 with 31,000k's for 38,000k (manual)
or a pirelli with 31,000k's for 40,500 (DSG)

ive chosen these two cars as i think they will hold there value

    what are everyones thoughts?

i'd go pirelli, though i prefer a manual. r32 is too heavy, and something i've learned, there is no real need of awd for a daily.

hi Guys, go the Pirelli, it's much lighter than the r32 and gets round the twisties just as quick, however the r32 does sound great.

I think you answered your own question! And yeah I'd go the Pirelli!

just for the record. Neither of those cars are gonna hold their value over the next couple years if thats what you were hoping. No new cars do anymore.

Pirelli will be easy to get more power.

The Pirelli will also be cheaper to run as it drinks half as much as the R32.

If you can wait 6mths, I'd wait for the Polo GTI to come out and try that before deciding. That car should be fun to drive, cheaper to buy, economical to run and it will be new.

well i refuse to buy a brand new car as you lose too much $$$
there is minimal pirelli's being sold so not much options out there.
                the positives the r32 has over the pirelli are;

                loooks ways better
                sounds better
has more presence on the road

                pirelli over the r32

                more efficient
                will be the faster car.

                damn this is hard

                  just brainstorming...
the r32 DSG does 0-100 in 6.2 sec
                  the pirelli does 6.6 sec
what will a chipped pirelli do.. will it really break the 6 sec barrier?

You quoted $40,500 for the Pirelli, and after 31,000kms it appears that the owner hasn't lost too much $$$. You do realise you can get a brand new Mk6 for only a couple thousand more (with 31,000 less kms)?

Yes. But only if you can get traction! There is a vid of Adzys standard mk5 GTI breaking 6 secs after just a tune.

If you are looking to work your car, go the pirelli as it will be much quicker than the r32 once done up.. unless you put a twin turbo kit on the r32 (20k later with associated required mods). Depending how far you go with modding the pirelli, yes you will break 6sec... and you will even break 5sec with traction. Do not under estimate how quick the pirelli is!! Their dyno numbers are monstrous too.

You're right in saying that the r32 has more presence on the road, but for VW enthusiasts, the pirelli will be more apprecaited i think.. considering there were only 400 of them ever brought into the country..

being biased, but go the pirelli Mines great and the limited edition should hold some value

I'll go against what everyone else say's even though i've owned neither but have had the opportunity to drive both.
I'd go the R32, purely for the awesome sound and the 4wd.
