I caught him so quickly but he did not wave me past (which is what is asked of us) he just looked across at me all defensive and took an inside line????? He then lifted off and looped it, I had to break heaps hard, and I LOL'd then.........serious'd

just out of curiosity, did your brakes fade after a few laps?

no fading for me... although a few days later they started to squeel. i think the oem pads got cooked, changed composition (hardened the f**k up!!!) and became school girls, squeeling all day long!

they are due for upgrading - got stainless lines, drilled discs, and ceramic pads - all getting fitted shortly. that should sort it right out! eventhough the oem hardware was absolutely brilliant on the day.. especially compared to mini coopers that needed cool down lap every 5-10 mins, due to smoking brakes.

I only hit apparent brake faid once which shocked me a bit (in a good way). The most laps I done in a row was 5 I beleive which would then be followed by a slow cool down lap. Having said that I could have broke a little more aggressive but I was saving a bit for that exact reason, I did not want to get too much fade and chew the pads to bits.
One thing for sure was the brake fluid did not boil once as the brake pedal never went all spongy with the brake pedal dropping to the floor.

The last track day I did was at Winton in February this year.
It would have been at least 39 degrees out there that day!
Completely boiled the brake fluid. Had been out for a total of about 45 minutes off and on in that heat.
After using the hand brake to slow me into the pits, i had to sit out the last session...

i did change my brake fluid days before the track day to something suitable for the event... not sure what Audvolks used, but it did what it was meant to do.

I was told by one of the mechanics i use who works at Audi Centre Melbourne that Audi dealers use the same brake fluid across all of their models and that they fluid he is putting into my A3, is the same as what goes into an R8. (Not sure if it is the same fluid that VW use?)

i guess it was just too hot and i was over using the brakes.

What does brake fade feel like?

With brake fade the pedal goes hard and doesn't have much travel..... and feels like your brake pads have turned to Vaseline (as in you dont stop)

                                What an absolutely amazing day!
Bucketed down for the most of it but just made things more fun and meant i was able to keep up with the faster cars!
The new Flaken 452's were amazing in the wet and i only suffered very minor brake fade.

Couldn't get the rear sway installed in time unfortunately but they will be in for next time.
Prob clocked up around 200k's on the track and easily had about 2.5 hours.

                                What a day!
