Any one of the numerous threads on here will give you an idea as to the service costs which vary from dealer to dealer but it will give you an idea of the ballpark you're looking at.

I just paid $635 for manual TDI. I didn't shop around - no time - I just went back to the dealer. You'll undoubtedly get it cheaper with some effort.

If you are in Melbourne, try Volkspower as they seem to be great in terms of price and from what I have seen are great with service and knowing everything VW (der I know they have been around for ages!)

Done today. Actual bill was $420!! Nice! Mechatronic unit to be replaced

Finally got around to servicing at Central Coast @$447


Here's one to think about from the dealer after I asked for the tyres to be rotated,

" we only do them if they need doing"

So after 30000k's still not rotated.

I got the 45,000 at Camden GTI $240 only oil and filter plus checks on VCS found fault with Mechatronic unit, referred me to Barloworld Fivedock spend all Tuesday there had to send all data to Germany as VWA couldn't work out what to do , booked in again next Wednesday for Software update , if that doesn't fix the problem ill be asking a few questions.

I've had our 06 Golf 1.9tdi serviced by an indenpdant from new just around the corner from the VW dealer, his workshop is like a hospital surgery just so spotlessly clean and he is very very fussy.
All our services were $150.00, with the 45,000km service $308.00 if I can remember correctly and then the wife just had the 90,000km service done last week and it was $503.00, with tyres rotated, new wiper assemblies, filters and oils, test drive and report on vehicle....he is just a great fully registered A1 mechanic.... ( I rang VW head office in Sydney from the start to make sure our warranty was all good and there were fine with it.) Now car is 5 years old and running like a dream....

Mind telling who you are using ? It is hard to find guys like that - I have a good mate who works for himself from home and has for years. The only problem is he has a few rules to save him some hassles - no euro cars and nothing older than 10 years. Not that he has an issue with euro stuff - just hasnt seen enough of it to be up to speed with all the rquirements.

No problems, the business is located in the Latrobe Valley area and the town is Morwell about 150km east of melbourne on the Princes Hwy..
and they run under the banner of JCP Automotive (Jim is his name)...Cheers
