Why not make it out of aluminium or fibreglass as there will be negligable weight savings.

seibon items don't fit flush from many reports overseas, best to stick to OSIR if you plan to go down the carbon fibre route

You cant beat deleting weight as all handling aspects are improved, BUT, why would you bother unless you had a 600 HP car with everything else done... would suit a time attack car for sure.

Ripping the rear seats out before I hit the 1/4 sounds like a plan though..... may give me a tenth!?!

Loosing seats, spare and running 1/4 of a tank of fuel should net you a little more than 1/10th i would think.

40 kg deleted from a car weighing just over 1400 kg (driver included) running around 160 kw/wheels should equate to 1 - 1.3 tenths of a second says Physics. Given the dispersive adhesion, throttle input, humidity, wind speed, gear shift speed etc etc etc... were identical for both runs

My last runs were done with a full 3/4 full tank

But if you want to do it cheaper just strip your interior, it's free.
Rip out carpet, A/C, Heater, seats etc..

Any one ever replaced some stock alloys with forged lightweight wheels? The difference is incredible as the un-sprung mass effects all motion greatly. The stock GTI wheels are freakin boat anchors!!

Standard GTI 17's = 66 KG in total (16.5 KG each)
Volk CE 28N 17's = 22.4 KG in total (5.6 KG each)

Weight saving of 43.6 KG

Bit of an extreme example but you get the idea

I expected the stock wheels to be heavy but not 16.5kg considering they are meant to be made by BBS?
