  • Mk V Service

    Hi Guys,

My Mk V Tiptronic FSI has the airbag orange light on the dash. The manual book said take it to a dealer for checking. It's a 2005 with 35,000 km's. I'm wondering if in this case I should take it to Chatswood Classic or McCarrol's at Waitara for an airbag issue.

My question is where to take it. I've read on here before that the VW Dealer charges seem to be through the roof so wondered if anyone can recommend someone. I live in Epping NSW, can anyone recommend somewhere that I won't be bent over by a VW dealer.

My airbag light recently came on too.. but that was after taking it to the panel beaters to get fixed when someone sideswiped me. Because they had to remove the skins on the door, it triggered the airbag sensor. All that needed to be done was a fault code reset.. so maybe try that before taking it to a DDealership. You will need someone with a VAGCOM to help you though.

    Good luck

      Hi Nabz,
thanks for the reply. The door skins haven't been off so maybe something else. Has anyone had any experience with McCarrol's at Waitara ?

Have had is this happen 3 times now with my 05 TDi, no reason for it, the lights come on and the dealer replaces the faulty sensor. The last time it happened the car was out of warranty but the dealer (Sutherland) did it at no cost out of goodwill. If I remember correctly the cost was less than $200.

I've heard good things about Waitara, but I have never actually used them.
