OK guys,
I had two cars damaged by hail as discussed in some of the other threads.
I am insured with AAMI with both cars, and there was a fair bit of AAMI bashing in those earlier threads, and in plenty of other threads in the past.
The cars were duly booked with the AAMI contractor Australasian Hail Network.
The Jackaroo is finished, two days ahead of schedule. All I can say about the repair is this
WOW !!! Unbelieveable!!!!
The Jack shows ZERO traces of hail damage, and they removed three or 4 non-hail dings as well, including one in the drivers door caused by an a**hole in an F100 years ago. It annoyed the hell out of me every time I drove the car. If I'd known it could be removed without painting I'd have had it fixed at the time, but I was unaware this sort of work was possible.
The GTI is now at the repairer. If the job on the GTI is as traceless as the Jackaroo, it will be as new again, and there is no reason to suppose they will be worse at the GTI repair.
I also saw a number of other cars finished, including a black BMW - don't know how badly it was dinged, but it was perfect. I gave it a really good look over and there was no trace visible in the bonnet or anywhere else.
So, am I happy - yes and no,
Yes, because the Jack is better than it was before the hail, and the GTI will be perfect again as well.
No, because the damn hail cost me $1000 in excesses.
