Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • what is this vibration?

hay all, iv got some vibration in my steering.(not to server, but noticeable, and a little worrying)

it is only there under light throttle/no throttle...hard throttle seems to be gone.

it only happens +80kmh below 80 it isn't noticeable.

    .....

iv swaped by rims around(back to front), so i think i can cross them off the list.

07 jetta diesel, with DSG gear box.

    ....

    any suggestions?

You could get the wheels balanced and a wheel alignment and see how that goes.

yeah id go the wheel balance and alignment. Made mine wayyy smoother (Golf). Another thing is the diesel may be vibrating, ie the motor might be in synch with the natural harmonics of the body etc, and just starting to vibe everything. Can happen. If i idle at about 1050rpm and get it just right the whole car shakes because of this(i think). Naturaly i dont do it on purpose.
