Hmm... sounds pretty line-ball to these guys: Willkommen

'Pends what you mean by TOO much.
The block's already made from grey cast iron (instead of the original donor engine's alloy), so it's a pretty tough little donk.
But having said that, was it ever designed to run 240 horses?
Pro'lly not (at least not with VW's idea of reliability).
The stock engine was tested to last 300,000 kms and has so far proved very reliable (no matter what the nay-sayers were saying!).
I guess you could extrapolate what twice the horsepower does to a stock engine's reliability.
Having said all that, jeez I'd LOVE to try either one...
I'd be concerned with the heat side of things and turbo lifespan. Metal things bending aside, the biggest problem in a forced induction engine is heat. With a twin charger you've two sources of induction heat, and some pretty scary exhaust temps from what I understand of the 1.4. Anything you could do to lower the thermal load on the engine would help with the lifespan, from wrapping inlets and heat shielding, to intercooler sprays and ducting, to water meth injection. At those sort of power levels, I think I'd skip the meth personally!
