    If you have owned or own one of the models above please state your experience with the Golf negatives and positives .

    Model: Golf 1.9TDI Comfortline
    Engine: 1.9 TDI with 77kW
    Year: 2006MY
    Owned Since: March 2008 done only 34K.

    Negatives
    -Air Con Rod Bent - the item that closes and opens the Air Con Vent (replaced under warranty).
    -Cambelt replacement expected every 4 years according to VW.

    Positives
    -Great car to drive would easily buy another.
    -Heated Leather Seats spoil you in winter.
    -Coming Home Lights, Rain Sensing Wipers spoil you.
    -6ft Christmas Tree fits in the back with 2 seats left (Driver & front Passenger)
    -TDI Fuel Economy on long distance driving amazing, around town pretty good to.
    - Sound system quite good for its class with 8 speakers.

    Model: Golf GTI (6spd manual)
    Engine: 2.0TSFI 147kw
    Year: 2006
    Owned Since: March 2010 105k (purchased at 104k)

    Negatives
    -Manual gearbox is clunky and can make fast changes hard.
    -24hr only clock
    -No real cup holders
    -The center armrest is frustrating to bring all the way down once its up
    -Cant turn come home light feature off with out a VAG COM
    -Reverse is close to first, sometimes go backwards instead of forwards in carparks
    -Annoyingly small sunvisors

    Positives
    - The 2.0TSFI is so flexible with heaps of torque and mid range power
    - Did I say torque? can climb most mountains in 6th gear.
    - The interior blue lights
    - The stock bucket seats (even with no leather)
    - Brake feel
    - Handling is best ive ever experienced in a fwd.
    - It feels bigger and more solid then what you would think.
    - Vw logo that opens the rear hatch

      Negatives
      -Can't get TRACTION!!!
      -Very aggressive power curve, lots of lag following by sudden huge assault of power & torque
      - Brake squeeeeeeeeeeelllllllll Damn european soft pads
      - DPF filter needs regeneration often if not driven hard
      - Reverse is close to first, sometimes go backwards instead of forwards in carparks
      - Dont expect tyres to last
      - Expensive servicing costs


      Positives
      - TORQUE!!!!!! Pulls like a freight train.
      - Fantastic fuel consumption considering the performance
      - Engine if properly maintained is bulletproof and will last forever
      - Fantastic re-sale value
      - Not very common on the road

        Year: 2005
        Owned Since: April 2005

        Negatives
        - strange grinding noise when doing a slow turn, usually only within a minute after a cold start
        - a/c not quite cold enough on a really hot day
        - boot could be a bit bigger, but I'm happy enough
        - space saver spare, but I've gotten by ok the two times I've used it
        - rubber coated interior trim gets irreparably scuffed even with fairly gentle use


        Positives
        - love the torque yet very easy on the juice
        - has good on-road feel
        - good balance of power steering assistance at low & high speeds
        - great multi-adjustable seats that are comfortable even on fairly long trips
        - has been very reliable and fairly easy to maintain
        - minimal rattles even after 5 years
        - good sound system and being able to add mp3 player as a dummy cd changer was a bonus
        - great trip computer
        - very handy having cruise control
        - love the little extras: auto dipping mirror, heated side mirrors, extendable sun visor
