Missing accessories? (where's the first aid kit?)

Hi there,

Been looking at this forum for quite some time, and it finally led me to my most recent purchase.

Last Tuesday, I too was finally able to pick up my very own Candy White Golf Comfortline 2.0 TDI DSG (Mrs. not too keen to have a manual anymore).

I've been running in the car using recommendations given on this site and the TDIClub forums. Only been able to drive it for around 300kms, but I've loved every minute I've spent in this car.

Now my question is not about performance but about possible missing accessories.....i was reading through the manual and it seems that on the left hand side of the boot, there is/was supposed to be a First Aid kit and one of those Hazard triangles.

Can anyone tell me if this is standard equipment or something that you have to buy as an accessory?

My car came off the showroom so i don't know if someone's taken the kit or if it isn't a standard accessory.

Accessories.

They don't come with the car, mate. I certainly didn't get them and if you read the fine print you'll find that they aren't included. The clips/holders are there but you'll have to fork out if you want to fill them.

... first thing I did when I read this was go and check my boot ... same thing. Holders, but no 1st aid kit.

I was optimistic too.
Only thing i don't like is reference manual. It must have been made for European version. There are references to Australian models but most are not. Half of the **** inside is not available on my TDI.

Using VAG-COM, a laptop and an OBD-II can capable lead.

Really, the full multifunction display is a waste of time.

The dealer I got mine from (South Yarra) had little packs all made up for the owner deliveries.

Each pile had the owners manual, bottle opener, VW first aid kit, keys, mats, number plate frames, and any other books/warranties &c. No triangle, however. Full tank of gas, though.

I guess some dealers have different procedures.

I was told by my dealer that even if they are in the cars when they arrive they are actually removed by customs, as the instructions are in German. Knowing our anal rules and regs this is plausible - i mean, how would you know what to do with the bandage if the instructions are in german!

My dealer spent about hhalf an hour going through all of the controls.

I just wish the dealers would give you a list of the options which can be set, such as the options for locking/unlocking and the lights etc when you order the car, and set the options before delivery. Not having the options i wanrt is my only gripe about the car so far.

Here's the kit that my dealer supplied. (Excuse the crappy phone camera pics - it's actually a beige vinyl case). All in English, so I guess these are the sort available as an accessory. To be frank though, these aren't much good for much more than a BandAid type wound, splinter removal, or dirt in the eye, so I wouldn't feel too cheated. It was a nice thought by the dealer, however.

lol, thats some hardcore first aid kit right there. i think my clip is better used holding my alloy wheel cleaner bottle i agree though, nice thought by the dealer

This is my genuine German VW motorsport first aid kit. I bought it about 9 years ago. It is absolutely 1st class and has a hinged lid with a neoprene seal in the groove to keep it airtight. The part number is 000 093 108 and I have tried to find them on numerous occasions since but they are no longer available. It comes with a booklet of first aid instructions in German.
If you look closely, you can see the VW Motorsort parts sticker on it.
A real collectors item and it fits the holder exactly right!!

I think it is law in Germany that cars have to be supplied with a first aid kit and warning triangle.

I have bought a Passat first aid kit from TMTuning, which slots in nicely. And when my warning triangle arrives at my local Audi dealer and I have that in place, I'll get a pic for you.

Incidentally, Audis have both the first aid kit and the triangle delivered with their cars.

From memory the V6 4motion Bora also came with the triangle, mounted in the boot liner, but not sure if it also had a first aid kit supplied.

I have a motorists kit I bought from somewhere pretty cheap, fits in the loop on my Jetta no worries.

Is the triangle easily fitted to a Jetta? Might look at getting one ...
