  • Resetting the DSG Mecthatronic Computer

    Hi Guys and Gals,

I have just picked up an Ex-Demo MkV Golf 2.0L TDI DSG with 19,000k's, anyway being a demo means it has been driven by heaps of different people which means the change pattern profram in the mechatronic computer would almost be a schitzophrenic, as such it performs nowhere near a new unit.

I realise I can just drive and wait for it to learn but my guess this will yake a while based on the existing 19,000k's.

Does anyone know if this can be reset, or even better loaded with a driving/shift preference for example - sporty/aggressive etc.

    any ideas?

    Thanks Rick

Just find a safe bit of windy road and drive it hard in normal and sport mode for a few kk's. up and down thru the gears.

You can reset with VCDS (Vagcom) .

Bazzle thanks for that, does it learn that quick, having the best part of 20,000ks I figured it may have some complex algorithm that basically includes the law of averages, and if that was the case would be happy with factory default.

How many K's do you think it needs to figure on a new driver?????????????

          Really????????

Damn I must be doing wrong!

Whats your theory, cause if you seen VW's proper DSG Basic Set incl. clutch adaption R/test procedure, its pretty hard to do it in 10km!

well for shift point changes and how it holds gears, when it will drop back (ie daily driving) it'll be fine through the twisty's and adapt for a sportish drive (even in D), then when back on the highway it'll take a few km to realise it can shift into a higher gear.

I think are talking about different things, but I know what you mean.
My DSG has a issue and kind of goes searching when dropping back into second smoothly. I guess thats the clutch reset your talking about yeah? in that case I got no idea

It can take ages and if you get any of it wrong its redo all over again, Multitronic gearbox on the Audi is the same. It has a reset procedure a page long.

IS there a way to do it without a vag-com? dropping into second at 15-30km mines looking for the clutch..

Turn the ignition OFF then turn the key on but Don't start the car. wait tilll you see the warning dash light go off after a few seconds hold the accelerator down past the click down point and wait ten seconds, you willl hear a faint kind of tick behind the dash board.. Turn the car completely off...Done, start up and go and it will begin its learning process.

That's definitely not the resetting process for the DSG.

Have you tried calling your local dealership and asking them if they'll reset the transmission basic settings for you? I'd be very surprised if they declined or even tried to charge you for it.

To do a FULL reset back to initial sttings you WILL need Vagcom (vcds) or dealer .
