Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • R32 and GTi part numbers

    Hi guys.

I'm looking at getting an R32 rear end for my GT Golf, along with some Gti side skirts and have been advised that I need the following parts to the do the conversion - ( prices are from the dealer )

    1K6-807-433-E-GRU (rear lower valence) - $835.36
    1K6-807-568-9B9 (exhaust surround) - $77.80
    1K6-807-739 (LH mounting bracket) - $12.90
    1K6-807-740 (RH mounting bracket) - $12.90
    1K6-807-251 (foam insert) - $84.70
    1K6-945-105-A (LH reflector) - $14.03
    1K6-945-106-A (RH reflector) - $14.03
    1K6-807-441-E-9B9 (tow hook cover; round) - $13.50

Does anyone know if I need anything else or if I actually need the foam insert?

With regards to the GTi side skirts, I've been advised they are -

    1K4-853-859-9B9 - $148.65
    1K4-853-860-9B9 - $148.65

Do I need any other parts to fit these? My GT does not seem to have any mouting holes for this so I was just going to secure it with the two end screws and some double sided tape.

One interesting things I found is that I've read that you can also get the R32 side skirts which are identicle apart from the fact that they are primed smooth and ready for paint. I was under the impression that this would make them more expensive but If I've got the part numbers correct it seems they are cheaper ( plus the left is cheaper than the right? )

    1K4-853-859-D-GRU (LH side primed; 4-door): - $135.13
    1K4-853-860-D-GRU (RH side primed; 4-door): - $148.58

Finally - I want to get the lower lip section from the 2 piece lower spoiler off the GTi - the GT only has the upper section of that lower lip.
From what I can tell the part I need is

    1K0 807 110 9B9 ( lower lip spoiler ) - $241.60

Can anyone verify if all this is correct?
