Steering Level Sensor

Hey guys, i've got an A3 2.0T with a problem.
Been searching through Audi forums but seems no one else has had this problem so seeing if anyone with a MKV GTI has.

Yellow steering wheel light on the dash comes on.
Diagnose as steering level sensor. reset code, light comes back on after about 100m.
Apparently the steering level sensor could mean a number of things.

Anyone had a similar thing?

I had the same error. But mine went off and never came back.

Dealer diagnosed as intermittent fault as my car drove normal.

I have a very vague recollection of someone on the Briskoda forum having this problem, IIRC it turned out to be caused by the battery being cactus and leading to voltage fluctuations which was confusing the controller that monitors this stuff (VAG controllers are a bit fussy about getting clean power at the correct voltage).

I have no idea if your cause is the same or not, sorry.

Yep, sorry. Did mean steering angle sensor.

Finally found someone else on the Fourtitude forums that has had this problem.
Was due to wheels not being aligned properly after the lowering.
He got the wheels aligned and then the faults cleared but the light came back on and VW ended up replacing the sensor under warranty.

I got my wheels aligned after lowering but on the day so the suspension would not have settled yet.
Will be doing an alignment when I get new tyres next week and then i'll reset the fault code and cross my fingers.

If not, guess i'll just take the punt and order a new steering angle sensor.

I had the same after a rack change.

One thing you can try on your own with vag com is going to address word 44 , adaptation channel 3 an if its a 1 change it to a 0, click save. Clear the fault and see if it comes back.

0=Driver Steering Recomendation Active (DSR)

DSR is another function of ESP they call it ESP +,
In basic it helps you countersteer .
You just need to activate it in the steering rack cause your ESP system supports it .
