After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • 08 Jetta TSFI 2.0 or MK6 Golf?

    Hi guys,

I have been considering buying a DSG Jetta 2.0 TSFI with leather and 18" wheels. Very nice. Low KMs, new condition in the colour that I like..candy white. Asking price was $30k. Maybe can bargain to $28k. But then again i was thinking, for $5k more I can get a brand-spanking-new Golf Comfortline DSG.

What do you guys reckon. Which one should I get? TIA

I suppose at the end of the day,it depends on what you want,as a 2010 147 TSI Jetta would cost a lot more than the new Golf.
Drive them both, and then YOU deceide...but keep us informed.

Personally,I would go for the Jetta .

Personally i would go for the jetta, yes the golf is newer, but in my opinion there is nothing special about a standard golf.

But it also depends on your needs, do you have a family? or do you just drive by yourself?

If luggage room is a high priority have you looked at a Skoda Octavia ?

On the new vs s'hand issue, it depends on what is important to you. S'hand should be a lot cheaper, but has less warranty, you don't know how the car has been driven and looked after (or not), plus it is always good to know why the previous owner is selling (you don't want to buy a "lemon").

I tend to buy new and keep them for a long time (to reduce the impact of the "new car" depreciation slug that takes $1,000s off the value as soon as you drive out of the dealers).

Depends on what you want. I own an 07 Jetta Turbo DSG and love it! The boot is massive! Only thing you might want to check is what type of service history it has? For example mine has 30,000 but it has been to VW for some warranty work such as steering and mechatronic. Only thing with my Jetta is that even with the lowered factory suspension, it's a bit soft still. Goodluck!
