  • DSG reluctant to downshift 08 GT Sport

OK - missus is reporting occasional strange behaviour where, ie on hot days >35°C, the DSG seems to be occasionally very reluctant to downshift, leaving one running in too high a gear. Although I have not personally experienced this, it is obviously noticeable enough for the missus to complain.

The service guys have not found a fault, and could not replicate 'cos it was cool day.

Anyone else noticed this and is there are remedy (if it is indeed an issue)?

I've found this too, but it has/had nothing to do with hot days.

It seems to happen particularly after a few days without driving the car. It's like the DSG resets itself to "women driver" mode (ie don't downshift).

A few boots in the pants and it soon figures out I like to shift down sooner and it reverts back to its 'normal' shift points... I bet it's software doing it....

Hmmm, you may have a point there. I guess one thing that is making me a bit sceptical is that the missus drives it 95% of the time (sometimes I don't drive it for a couple of weks, and then, only briefly), so I would not expect the gearbox to adapt from one mode of driving to another. Maybe I need to ask her to give it a bit more of a workout so that it does not get lazy - to see if that helps.....

Yeah it certainly was the case with mine. I hadn't driven it for a week, then when I did I thought something had broken.. Wouldn't downshift until I really pushed it to...

        Then all came good.

you drive like a granny and it'll adapt to that.. high gear low revs smooth etc.
boot it a few times and the soul wakes up again....

That sounds too complicated. I havent driven my car for a month and when i did it felt like it was driven 30 mins ago. It does have 3 pedals tho

              Shame.

Hope you get your tandem bike fixed soon.
