Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Maybe you cold ask the mods to merge the threads if it's really about one question - which car to buy.

If you need the space in the boot (which I did), there's no question.

Let us know if you get a deal on the Jetta or if you get cold feet. I think the Jetta has a great package when it's nicely optioned. If I was going for a hatchback and a MkVI 'd probably have saved up and gone for a GTI, but then you're likely talking $40k easily, even though a few dealers will advertise from $39k drive away.

Everyone has their own sweet spot. Hopefully it all works out for you. Good luck.

I ended up finding a Jetta TDI (graphite blue as I think the light metallics are a little bland) + leather and that suited my road trip needs!
Bizi's Jetta TDI: Blue Graphite w. factory leather & tint, plus + Enkei Racing NT03+M + Yokohama S Drive 18s, Koni FSD, Neuspeed coils, GTI RSB + brakes, InPro mirrors, VW navi, Modshack. Come for a drive through the twisties on Saturdaze.
